- Draw or enlarge a picture of Barney to a realistic size. Use purple bulletin paper to sketch a Barney design and hang on the wall for the party. Use construction paper to add facial features to the Barney design. If you're not an artist, consider enlarging a printed page of Barney and coloring. Your local copy or office supply store, such as Office Max or Staples, can help you increase the size of your picture. Think about making cut-outs of Barney's friends, Baby Bop and BJ. Consider using the large Barney cut-out to have the kids play pin the heart on Barney, similar to pin the tail on the donkey.
- Use purple and green décor. Don't purchase the expensive, matching Barney plates, napkins, party hats and other supplies, but look for items matching in color. Hang purple and green streamers across the room. Alternate table coverings with purple and green plastic table cloths. Buy one nice large balloon bouquet with helium balloons to place on the main party table. Blow up purple and green balloons and leave them on the the floor, attached to each guest's chair or around the party area.
- Utilize printable coloring pages of Barney and friends. Print several Barney pages and color, or have your children color the pages. Hang the pictures from the ceiling, using purple and green string, or decorate the walls with the pictures. Glue a picture to a sheet of purple or green construction paper and write the party guest's name. Laminate and use as place mats and table decorations. Cut the figures out and tape to straws, placing in potted plants as centerpieces.
