Brookstone digital desk clocks are easy to program, use and maintain. With a convenient auto-set feature and additional user-friendly functions like an alarm and AM/FM radio, Brookstone digital desk clocks are great for even electronically challenged users.
Power and Battery
Your Brookstone digital desk clock is powered by a combination of an included DC 8V adapter and a backup CR2430 battery. When the CR2430 battery needs to be changed, the low battery icon will appear on the clock display. Replacement CR2430 batteries are available for purchase from your local jewelry or retail store. To replace the battery in your Brookstone digital desk clock, use a screwdriver to remove the clock's battery compartment door. Remove the old battery and insert the replacement CR2430 battery, taking care to observe polarity. Finally, replace the battery compartment door.
Brookstone digital desk clocks use radio-controlled time to provide the most accurate timekeeping possible. When you plug in your Brookstone digital desk clock for the first time, the clock will automatically set to the correct time for the Eastern time zone, which is the clock's default time zone. To change the time zone, open the control compartment cover on the bottom of the clock. Locate the "Time Zone" switch and set it to the appropriate time zone for your area. Six time zones are programmed into your clock, "A" for Atlantic, "E" for Eastern, "C" for Central, "M" for Mountain, "P" for Pacific and "H" for Hawaiian.
Once you've chosen the correct time zone for your Brookstone digital desk clock, you must select whether you want the clock to operate using the 12-hour or 24-hour format. The clock is set to the 12-hour format by default. If you'd like to change the setting to the 24-hour format, locate the "Time Format" switch on the bottom of the clock and flip it to "24-hour".
You can also decide whether to turn your clock's automatic Daylight Savings Time feature on or off. If you turn the feature on, your clock will automatically move forward by one hour at 2:00 a.m. on the first Sunday in March and fall back by one hour at 2:00 a.m. on the first Sunday in November. To choose your preference, locate the "DST" switch on the bottom of the clock and flip it to "Auto" or "Off".
The function buttons on the back of your Brookstone digital desk clock perform a variety of functions. The "Mode" button is used to shuffle through the clock's various modes. The "Forward" and "Back" buttons are used to scroll through data or increase and decrease number units when setting an alarm or setting the clock manually. The "Alarm 1" and "Alarm 2" buttons are used to access the alarm setting screens. The alarm buttons can also be pressed to silence an alarm that is sounding. Or, when the alarm sounds, you can press the "Snooze" button to delay your alarm for ten minutes. The "AM/FM/AUX" button is used to access the clock's radio feature and the "Preset" button saves your favorite stations so that you can access them at the touch of a button.
Care and Maintenance
Proper care and maintenance will help keep your Brookstone digital desk clock performing at its best. Care for your Brookstone clock includes keeping it clean, out of extreme temperatures and away from excess moisture. Should your clock need to be cleaned, wipe it with a soft cloth that has been dampened in a solution of mild soap and water. Never allow your clock to be immersed in water.
If your Brookstone digital desk clock begins to experience malfunctions, there are a few things you can do to troubleshoot the problem. Check to see that the clock is plugged into a working electrical outlet and that the backup battery does not need to be changed. If the problem persists, your Brookstone clock may need to be reset. To reset the clock, remove the control compartment cover to access the control panel. Locate and press the "Reset" button to return the clock to factory settings. If a reset does not solve the problem, contact Brookstone customer support for assistance.
