When it's hot outside and you want to have people over, one of the best ideas is to have a pool party. Instead of just lounging around in the pool all day, which can get boring after awhile, organize some exciting pool games that everyone will love. Pool games get everyone involved and bring all ages together for some old-fashioned fun.

    Pass the Ball Relay

  1. Bring the party to the pool with a game that can be played on land as well. Form two teams and have each team get into a straight line in the pool. Make sure everyone can touch the ground at least to start. The person at the front of the line has a ball. When someone says "go" the person passes the ball over his head to the next person. That person passes the ball between his legs to the following person. The third person passes the ball over her head, the next between her legs and so on. Once the last person gets the ball he has to swim it to the front and take over the first person position. The game continues with each person moving forward to the front after being in the back until all players have been at the front of the line and have returned to their original place from the start. The team to complete this sequence first wins.
  2. Crocodile Crossing

  3. Have one person stand in the middle of the pool and be the crocodile. Have everyone else line up on one side of the pool and choose a fish such as a bass, trout, salmon, perch and so on. The crocodile closes his eyes and then calls out the name of a fish. Whoever is that fish must then cross the pool as quietly as possible. The crocodile will try to tag the person by listening for movement or feeling the motion in the water. If the croc don't get the fish he calls out the name of another fish and tries again. Once the crocodile tags someone, that person becomes the new crocodile and the game starts over.
  4. Tug of War

  5. Form two teams and have one team line up on one side of the pool and the other team lined up on the opposite side. Place a rope between the two teams and have everyone hold onto it. On the word "go" both sides must tug with all their might. The team that pulls hardest will end up pulling the opposite team into the pool. Continue until all members of one team have been pulled into the pool.
  6. Boat Races

  7. Have people line up on one end of the pool. Give each person a toy boat. Determine a finish line and let everyone know where that is. On the word "go" have all players race their boats to the finish line by blowing it with their mouths only---no hands or other body parts may be used. The person who successfully blows his boat across the finish line first wins.
  8. Squirt Gun Targets

  9. Put big pinwheels up around the pool. Give everyone water guns, and have people take turns trying to squirt the target (the pinwheel). Another alternative is to have some people move around with the pinwheel so it's a moving target and have shooters try to hit it with the water guns as it moves.
