The L.L. Bean Big Ben Alarm is "a stylish replica of the 1949 Big Ben clock," according to the catalog. It features quartz timekeeping and easy-to-read numbers on the display, along with luminescent hands. The alarm is easy to set and once activated makes a beeping noise that is just loud enough without being annoying.

    Time

  1. Insert the battery by removing the screw on the back with a small Phillips screwdriver. The clock takes one AA battery. Before setting the alarm, you will need to set the time. The time adjustment knob on is the on the back of the clock: Turn it clockwise until you have reached the correct time. The knob is quite short and small, so if you can't turn it with your fingers, try pliers.
  2. Alarm

  3. A dial on the front of the clock shows the alarm setting. To set the alarm, move the alarm adjustment knob, located on the back of the clock, until you have reached the desired time. The dial has very small markings, so take care when you're setting the alarm. To activate the alarm, pull out the alarm adjustment knob. To turn the alarm off, press the button on the top of the clock. The alarm does not have a snooze feature.
