Determining how much Tylenol with codeine to take at one time depends on the format and strength of the drug, as well as whether the patient is an adult or a child. The drug comes in six formats--five pill formats and one liquid--and each features a different combination of Tylenol and codeine. Numbers stamped on the pills indicate strength. Prescription instructions usually indicate how much of the drug to take, and how frequently. If the prescription is confusing, ask a pharmacist, doctor or nurse.
Doctors prescribe Tylenol with codeine based on the amount of pain a patient feels, as well as her ability to respond to the drug, so it is important to follow dosage instructions closely.
