Cleanse your liver once or twice a year using your own, homemade liver detox recipe. Easy, inexpensive and effective, a liver detox cleanse will help flush excess toxins and wastes from the liver, which will be eliminated by excretion and urination. Create your own liver cleanse with a few simple ingredients and then perform the cleanse in the privacy of your own home.
Gather ingredients for your homemade liver cleanse. One easy and inexpensive recipe combines Epsom salt, olive oil, grapefruits or lemons and a bottle of Coca-Cola. You'll need about four tablespoons of Epsom salt and a half to one cup of extra-light or extra virgin olive oil. You'll also need about two to three pink grapefruits, or if you prefer, at least six lemons. You'll also need a small bottle of Coca-Cola, enough to give you about half a cup.
Combine three tablespoons of Epsom salt with three cups of water, which will make about four servings of three-quarters of a cup each. Set aside. Squeeze the grapefruits and add what pulp you can, or squeeze your lemons to generate about 200 milliliters of juice. Put the juice in a separate container.
Start your cleanse at about 2 in the afternoon after eating a very light breakfast and no lunch. Drink about three-quarters of a cup of the salt-and-water mixture. Drink about three-quarters of a cup at 6 p.m. and then again at 8 p.m. At 9:45 p.m., drink about three-quarters of a cup of juice mixed with half a cup of olive oil. Lie down and remain still after drinking this mixture for about 20 minutes before moving around and going to the bathroom or to bed.
At 6 a.m., drink your last dose of the salt-and-water mixture. Take any remaining salt-and-water solution along with the remaining juice mixture approximately two hours later. Drink plenty of water to flush all excess wastes from the colon and take it easy for the rest of the day. Start eating again, sticking to raw fruits and vegetables or juices for a while.
