How to Call the Philippines From Singapore

You can call the Philippines from Singapore by using a landline or a cell phone that lets you call internationally. Two affordable ways to call internationally are to purchase a calling card for use on pay phones and landlines, or purchase an IDD SIM card for your cell phone. Both methods will charge a cheaper rate for calling abroad in Asia.

IDD and Roaming SIM Cards

  • IDD stands for international direct dialing. By purchasing a SIM card for your cell phone that allows you to call another country--or an IDD SIM card--you can call the Philippines. A SIM card can be inserted into any cell phone that operates with a SIM card. These cards are pre-paid, then you can recharge the card with more money when needed. (See Resources for a link to Vodafone's IDD SIM card plans for Asia.)

Calling Cards

  • If you do not have a cell phone or prefer to call from a land line or pay phone you can purchase a calling card. There are many calling cards available (see Resources). Before beginning the dialing process in Section 3, follow the directions on the back of your calling card to use the money put on the card. Every calling card has different directions.

How to Dial the Philippines from Singapore

  • Dial 011+ 63 on your phone. The "011" signals your phone that you are dialing out of the country, and 63 is the country code for the Philippines.

Dial the two digit area code. If you are using a cell phone, dial 9 + area code. (See Resources for a list of area codes in the Philippines.) Dial the 7 digit phone number of the person you want to call. You may need to wait a few seconds to hear a ring tone that signals that your call has gone through.
