FrontPage from Microsoft makes it easy for anyone to create their own Web page. You don't have to know HTML because FrontPage writes that for you in the background. FrontPage is considered a WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) HTML editor. That means what you see on the screen is how your finished page would look in a Web browser.

    Open Website

  1. Click on "File" and "Open Site" then type in the name of your website to access. FrontPage will display "Connecting to Web server..." and then prompt for the user name and password. Type in your user name and password and then click on "OK". FrontPage will log you into your website and display any folders and files on your web server.
  2. Open folder or page

  3. Click on the folder to display its contents or click on a page to view the code of your Web pages. You can only open one folder at a time in FrontPage, but you can open several Web pages. If you make changes to your page, make sure you save it before closing.
  4. Add a new page or folder

  5. Move your mouse pointer to the upper left corner and click "File" on the menu. "New ..." will create a new page or you can select the "New Page" icon. Click on the down arrow for more choices including "New Folder." Type the new name for either your page or folder accordingly.
  6. Pick Your View

  7. Pick how you want to view your web page while creating or editing your page. The "Design View" tab will give you the WYSIWYG mode and is easiest for those not familiar with Web design. The "Code View" tab is the choice of more experienced developers who want to write their own code. The "Split View" tab splits your view between design and code views, so you can see changes on the fly.
  8. Adding Text to Your Page

  9. The most common element to any good Web page is the use of text. Adding text is easy and it is recommended that you use the "Design View" mode. Place the cursor on the area of the page where you want to enter the text and start typing. FrontPage is just like any other Office application and adding text is a lot like using Word. Format your text accordingly (bold, italics, font, size, etc.) by highlighting the text you would like to format. The quality of your text will help better rank your site with various search engines.
  10. Insert Clip Art or Images

  11. Add an image or a photo to your Web page to break up the text on your page. Adding an image is easiest when in "Design View" mode. Move your cursor to the area of your page where you would like to insert an image. You can either add an image from available clip art or from your own photos. Click on "Insert" from the main menu and then on the arrow next to "Picture" to view your options. Choose how you want to insert an image or picture into your page.
  12. Create a Table

  13. Now you can create the layout of your page by adding features like a table. Tables are a great way to organize information on your Web page. They are made of a series of rows and columns. With your new page opened in either "Code View" or "Design View", click on "Table" from the menu. Scroll down the list to "Insert" and then select "Table" to build your table. You can either modify size, layout, borders, background and layout or keep the default settings.
