Romantic Things to Do for Him

Creating a romantic experience for the special man in your life is fun and easy. Men love feeling appreciated and desired. Romancing your guy can be as simple as a few flirtatious notes left around the house, or as complex as an elaborate romantic evening incorporating all his favorite activities. No matter which of these ideas you choose, he'll love the attention and affection.

    1. Take Him On a Date

      • If you're a woman in a heterosexual relationship, there's a good chance that most of the pressure to plan great dates falls on your partner. Show him you care by switching up the roles and taking him out for an extra special date.

Plan your date around his favorite activity or interest. If he's into sports, surprise him with tickets to see his favorite team in action. If you're not already a sports fan, read up on the game before your big date so you'll know when to cheer, when to boo and when to shout insults at the referee. After the game, take him out for a beer at his favorite sports bar.

If your guy loves the great outdoors, consider planning a camping trip. If you don't camp regularly, ask one of his outdoorsy buddies to help you choose a location and make sure you've packed all the right gear. Take all of the prep work off your man's hands so he can just sit back, relax and enjoy the trip.

No matter what it is that he enjoys doing, you can plan a special romantic experience around that interest. If it's not something that you usually enjoy, just take a deep breath and try to understand what he sees in his hobby. Remember, the date is all about him.

      Put It In Writing

      • Romance the man in your life by surrounding him with messages that show how much you care. Leave love notes where you know he'll find them. Avoid notes in his briefcase or car that might be found by a buddy or discovered during a professional meeting. Instead, try leaving notes on his computer keyboard, inside his favorite coffee mug, taped to his bathroom mirror and in his sock drawer.

Unless you know your guy likes mushy romance, stay away from Hallmark sentiments. Stick to simple truths and compliments like, "I think you're the sexiest man in the world," and, "I can't wait to see you tonight." Cute jokes can be fun and romantic, too. Keep it short and sweet.

      Pamper Him

      • Make your special guy feel like the center of the universe for a day by dedicating an entire weekend day to spoiling him with home-cooked meals, massages, his favorite movies on DVD and whatever else he'd enjoy.

Start by letting him sleep in a long as he likes. When he wakes up, tell him you've prepared a to-do list for the day. Just as he's looking totally crestfallen, hand him a list with one item: "Sit back, relax and let me pamper you all day!" Then proceed to fill a whole day with all of his favorite restful and relaxing activities.

Cook his favorite meals or order takeout from his favorite restaurant. Give him all the tender, loving care he can soak up. Do the chores he'd usually do on his days off. If he wants to invite friends over for poker or to watch the big game, serve snacks and drinks to the whole group. Give your guy the gift of feeling like a king for the day.
