Dressing for a business casual work environment can be challenging, especially if you are new to the corporate world, or the job. The business casual dress code varies from company to company; some organizations are a little more edgy, and you can pull off trendier, high-fashion styles without looking as if you're dressing for the weekend. Other offices are more standard business casual and do not stray far from that look. To dress for a business casual office, wear standard business pieces and add accessories to give it your own touch.

    Blazer

  1. A blazer is a must-have for a business casual environment. The beauty of a blazer is that you can wear a blouse or short-sleeve shirt underneath, and add or remove the blazer depending on the situation. Another plus to a nice blazer is that it can act as a jacket in the fall and spring when temperatures can be slightly cool. Buy a blazer in a neutral color such as gray, black, or beige. If you want to keep the blazer for a few seasons, stick to a classic look that won't go out of style.
  2. Slacks

  3. A nice pair of business slacks is one of the best investments you can make. Rotate the slacks with different shirts, blazers, shoes, and accessories to create several different looks. Choose pants with simple details that will last several seasons. As with blazers, go with a neutral color and simple pattern. The slacks will match everything and they will be less memorable, which means that you can wear them often without being noticed. Also, try to find pants that you can mix and match with blazers if you need to create a suit-like look.
  4. Skirt

  5. A business skirt is nice to have during the warm weather. Skirts will keep you cool and give you more of a chance to transition from day to evening wear if you stop for a drink or dinner after work. Skirts tend to be a little less expensive, so you can choose skirts that are a tad more detailed and trendy. But avoid anything too fashion forward or it may be deemed too wild for the workplace. A tailored pencil or A-line skirt is a nice addition to any wardrobe. Although you can have a little more fun with skirts, try to keep them in the same color scheme as your blazer so they can be easily added to an outfit.
