- The Dirt Devil Platinum Force vacuum is installed into the walls of your home and provides inlet valves for easy attachment and cleaning. To use your vacuum, plug the hose into the inlet and attach your selected cleaning tool to the hose. The vacuum's power unit becomes active once the tool is attached. Begin vacuuming. As you vacuum, the dirt is collected and stored in the dirt canister. This is usually installed near the power unit of your vacuum system.
- Empty the dirt canister regularly. The canister is located at the base of the power unit and has a removable door. Always empty the canister when it is ½ to 2/3 full. Never allow the canister to fill completely as it can promote system blockage. Turn the power unit off before removing the dirt canister. When you remove the canister, the cyclonic cone filter will be visible. This filter houses the replaceable filter that should be replaced once a year. Remove the filter by turning the attached filter counterclockwise 90 degrees. Insert the new filter and secure by turning it 90 degrees clockwise until you feel the filter snap into place. Replace the dirt canister to complete the reinstallation.
- General care of the vacuum system will allow for trouble free use. Never rest objects on the power unit of the vacuum system. The power unit requires regular ventilation and could overheat when objects are placed on the unit. Always turn the vacuum off when it is not in use and when the hose is not connected. The central vacuuming system requires airflow to prevent motor damage. Never operate the system without the appropriate filters and canisters in place. Never lubricate the power unit, hoses or attachments. Keep the power unit's exterior clean and free of debris. Avoid cleaning the system with liquid cleaners and keep water and liquids away from the interior of the system. If the system shows a loss of power, check the main fuse or circuit breakers to ensure proper power supply. Clean the dirt canister and change the filters of the unit, if necessary. Check the hose attachments to ensure that the hose is not clogged and is free from obstructions.
