Most cars use a single outlet exhaust tip, though there are some makes that utilize a dual exhaust tip in stock form. If you have a single tip but want the look of a dual exhaust, it's easy to attain the look simply by installing a dual exhaust tip. Not only does adding a chrome dual exhaust tip can give your vehicle an instant upgrade in the looks department, but the right exhaust tip can also make your exhaust sound a little more tuned, especially if it is a resonator tip from a company like Borla.

    Availability

  1. Chrome dual exhaust tips can be purchased from a variety of places. If you want to get something that is OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer), a good place to start your search is at the dealer that sells your type of car. Most manufacturers make dual exhaust tips as an upgrade, but not all. Another place to find them is at auto parts stores like Napa, Checker and Pep Boys. Also look in the catalogs of large companies like Summit Racing and Jegs, which have a large selection of chrome dual tips. Lastly, most muffler shops will have a variety to choose from, and as an added bonus, you can have them install the tips as well.
  2. Styles

  3. Chrome dual tips can be had in a wide variety of style and exhaust openings. The ends can be slash cut at an angle or cut straight up and down. The openings of the tips can be sharp or beveled, and can also feature fins in the opening that improve the looks and change the sound. They also come in a variety of shapes, including round, oval, square and rectangular, and can exit straight out the back of the vehicle or curve to one side or can even be angles upward. When choosing a style of exhaust tip, use a design that goes well with the design of your car.
  4. Installation and Care

  5. Generally speaking, installing a dual exhaust tip is very easy and usually only requires a screwdriver. Install the tip by tightening the screws through the tip onto the exhaust pipe and then adjusting the screws to make sure the tip is straight. You can also have the tip welded on by a muffler shop if you want a more permanent installation. When you buy the tip, make sure that its inside diameter is larger than your existing pipe to ensure that it fits. To keep the tip in good shape, clean it regularly with soap and water, and polish it with a high-quality chrome polish.
