A common gift for brides and grooms to receive at their wedding is greeting cards and envelopes with money. Some brides like to create a unique and personalized wedding card holder that carries the wedding theme or colors. Not only does this create a somewhat safe place for all of the envelopes to go, but the money card holder can also double as a piece of decor for your wedding reception.

    Card Holder Ideas

  1. A white bird cage can complement a variety of wedding colors and themes, including a spring garden theme or a snowy winter theme. The bird cage may be purchased from a pet store, thrift store or craft store. You can spray-paint the bird cage white and then add accessories to embellish and decorate the cage. Some ideas for embellishments include ribbons, flowers or any items that go with your theme.

Many brides take hat boxes or square boxes and stack them to mimic a wedding cake. These boxes may be painted, covered in fabric or paper, and decorated to match their wedding cake.

Wooden boxes found in craft stores can be stained or painted to complement the wedding decor. Some brides paint the boxes white and then use stencils to write a message of love or decorate the box with personal photographs. Ribbons and flowers may also be used to add a touch of color or accent a wedding theme.

Likewise, cardboard boxes can be painted or covered in fabric and accented with flowers, ribbons, jewels or craft stones.

A treasure chest is another popular idea for a gift card holder. These can usually be found at a party store, home decor store or a craft store. These boxes typically come decorated already, so they may not need any additional decorations or embellishments added to it.

Etched glass boxes can also add an elegant touch to any gift table. These boxes can be beautiful on their own, but can also be engraved with a personal message, the couple names of the bride and groom or with a unique design.
  2. Get in Touch With Your Creative Side

  3. Even with the most formal of weddings, don't be afraid to use a little bit of creativity and add a touch of your own personality to your wedding gift card holder. You don't need to be confined to social standards for wedding gift card holders. Don't be afraid to use color. Not everything has to be painted white and then accented with silk flowers or a ribbon that matches your bridesmaid dresses. Let loose a little bit and let some of your whimsical flair shine through.
