The proper washing technique is important in healthy hair growth. Wash the hair with cool water, as this locks hair tips into place, preventing damage and split ends. Use a strengthening shampoo and conditioner, which will strengthen hair roots, allowing for thick, healthy growth. Do not wash the hair every day. Each time you wash, natural oils in the hair are rinsed out, so washing too often can actually dry hair out and lead to breakage. Instead, wash hair twice per week, or three to four times per week if you have oily hair.

Massaging the scalp increases blood flow to the hair, creating better circulation. This helps to stimulate hair growth, leading to faster growing locks. When washing the hair, massage shampoo and conditioner into scalp for about three minutes each. Also massage the scalp daily for 10 to 15 minutes to keep blood flowing.

Coconut oil also stimulates hair growth and prevent breakage. Heat 2 tsp. of coconut oil in the microwave until lukewarm (about five to 10 seconds), then massage into the scalp for five minutes. Let sit overnight, then rinse out in the morning with cool water. Repeat this treatment every three to four days to keep hair strong and healthy.

A proper diet is also essential in healthy, fast-growing hair. Incorporate proteins into your diet, as this nutrient strengthens hair and helps it grow faster. Foods high in protein include fish, chicken, beef, eggs, dark green vegetables and dairy products. Also drink at least 2 liters of water per day, as this will keep the hair and body hydrated, preventing dry hair breakage.
