Romantic Bathroom

There is no reason to have an unadorned or plain bathroom when there are so many romantic bathroom ideas available. In the past, bathrooms were often overlooked in the decorating plans. Now, no matter how large or small your bathroom or the size of your budget, you can have a romantic, inviting bathroom.

    Colors, Patterns and Textures

  1. Select a color palette for your romantic bathroom decor. Pink is considered the ultimate romantic color, and any shade of pink will work. If you don't want a lot of pink, consider pastel colors of green or blue, or use white as your main color with pink accents. For a warmer look, go for rich colors such as plum or burgundy. If you prefer something very dramatic, choose a neutral and add splashes of red.

Introduce patterns and textures into your bathroom like pink rosebud wall paper or floral shower curtains. If you don't like floral designs, use shower curtains made of fabrics with swags and tie backs to create a feeling of luxury. Lace curtains for the window or shower will also help create a romantic feel, as will plush rugs and toilet seat covers.
  2. Fixtures and Furnishings

  3. Select cabinetry with an old world feel, such as French Provincial style. Old world style brass plumbing fixtures enhance the romantic feel as well.

Install an old fashioned style claw-foot tub if you want a vintage romantic feel. If you prefer something more modern, a spa tub will make your bathroom feel like your own private resort.

Add furnishings if you have room for them like a vanity table with a seat or decorative shelves for storage. White wicker, with it's open weave, has a nice, romantic feel. Polished brass with glass also works well.
  4. Accessories and Accents

  5. Add accessories that create a romantic mood in your bathroom. Scented candles are a must for a relaxing bath, so place them around the room or along the ledge of a spa tub. Add an incense or potpourri burner, and a small CD player so you can listen to soothing, romantic music.

Place decorative items in your bathroom like a picture in a vintage frame with a string of pearls draped over one corner. A vase of tea roses or dried flowers or a potted orchid adds a classy, romantic touch. A small collection of antique perfume bottles on a silver tray make a beautiful display for a vanity. Use porcelain or crystal bowls to hold miniature molded soaps or bath oil beads.

Add big, fluffy towels and a cozy terrycloth robe hanging from a wall hook to complete the look.
