- If you use your stamps with many different colors of ink, you will want to clean them after each use. If your stamp is used for a specific color, it may not be necessary to clean it every time. The best thing to use is a bottle of stamp cleaner. This is specially made for your stamp and can be found at most stationary supply stores. Spray the cleaner on the stamp and use a clean dry cloth to rub the ink off. Never use water to soak your stamp, as this can cause the wood to separate from the rubber.
- Embossing is a beautiful technique to use on your stamps and looks great on stationary. Choose your stamp and place it where you would like the image to be. Sprinkle embossing powder onto the stamped image while it is still wet. Cover the ink completely. Gently tap off any excess powder. Use an iron (by lowering it to the image, but not placing it directly on it), a heat tool or even a light bulb to heat the embossing powder. As it heats up the image will raise.
- To make the best and most uniform image with your stamp, always keep your ink pad moist with ink. Ink in the pads can dry out over time, which will leave you imagine incomplete. Change out the pad or use a re-inking bottle to add ink to the pad. Do not put too much ink on the pads, as this will cause the image to be too dark and will leave puddles of ink on the paper. The pad should be moist, but not dripping.
