Precor is a manufacturer of high-end fitness equipment. The company's line of treadmills cost an average of $2,500 to $5,000 when purchased new. Models from the Precor treadmill line include the M9.33, M9.55, M9.21, M9.23 and M9.21. If you experience a problem with your Precor treadmill, you can perform some troubleshooting techniques to try to resolve the issue. If you are unsuccessful, contact Precor customer service for further assistance.
Inspect the Precor Treadmill
If you inspect your Precor treadmill, you can usually find the issue if the machine malfunctions. Unplug the machine and pull at the treadmill belt to make sure it has not loosened. If it has, you can take a wrench and tighten the belt adjuster at the base of the treadmill.
Check the power supply for the Precor treadmill to make sure it is plugged into a working outlet. Reset the circuit breaker or replace any blown household fuses if necessary. You may need to call for service if the power cord has become torn or frayed.
Adjusting the Alignment of a Precor Treadmill
A misaligned belt on a Precor treadmill can adversely affect the way you run or walk on the machine. For safety reasons, when aligning the belt, hair should be pulled back and loose clothing that could be caught in the machine should not be worn. To check the alignment, stand next to the treadmill and press the "Quickstart" key. Increase the speed to 3 mph and walk to the rear of the unit. If the belt is not running in a center line, it needs to be realigned.
Find the belt adjustment bolt at the rear of the treadmill. Use the hex key included with your Precor treadmill to realign the belt. Turn the bolt counterclockwise if the belt is off center to the left. Turn the bolt clockwise if the belt is off center to the right. Recheck the alignment after you have made the adjustments.
If you see an error code on the display of your Precor treadmill, turn the machine off and wait for two minutes before switching on the power again. In many cases, this will resolve the issue and the display will no longer display the error code. If this is unsuccessful, you'll need to have Precor service the machine.
