Everyone who is trying to lose weight wants it to come off as fast as possible. This is natural but not healthy or practical. Any more than 5 pounds within a week should not be weight you expect to keep off. That being said, if you are looking to slim down a dress size for a special event, you can lose up to 10 pounds in a week.
Losing weight fast can be accomplished through smart eating and drinking over the course of seven days. Eliminate alcohol and sugary drinks, and replace them with water. Water has no calories and will help you feel (and look) vibrant. Cut portions down so you aren't eating as many calories, and get to bed at a decent hour. When you get enough sleep, you are less likely to binge late at night and you will give yourself more energy to work out. When you work out, you improve muscle mass, which improves metabolism, which helps you shed pounds. Eliminate breads and pastas when you are trying to lose weight quickly. These increase water retention and can cause bloating. Eat more fruit, which is low in calories and high in fiber. You will feel full and eliminate more of what your body doesn't need.
There are many detox and cleansing programs available. While these are designed to help your body eliminate toxins stored in your body that lead to fatigue and chronic colds, you can lose weight during the detox process. There are three ways to detox: fasting, eating organic foods or taking supplements. A fast will probably help you shed the most pounds but may be the most difficult, as you will need to eliminate all solid food from your diet for the duration. Most fasting cleanses use a fruit juice or lemonade drink with a lot of water to flush out your system. Organic food diets are designed to increase fiber, reduce processed foods and reduce further toxic intake. Fruit diets are very popular, but some people also choose a raw food diet, eliminating breads, pastas and cooked meats. Supplements may be in drink or capsule form and are designed to promote digestive and liver health to improve metabolism.
When you lose weight too quickly your body may go into a "fast mode," in which it thinks you are in a dangerous condition that requires slowing your metabolic rate down to preserve calories. Some call this "calorie hoarding," and it will prevent weight loss. Additionally, be aware of any condition that may suggest a serious health side effect such as constipation, diarrhea, dizziness or fainting spells. If you lose weight too fast, your body may develop an electrolyte imbalance—this is a serious condition and requires immediate medical attention. Always consult your doctor prior to starting a new diet program.
