- Not located on the "Toolbar" window is a collection of important tools for Photoshop users. These tools can manipulate and change photos or layers. Click Edit > Transform to see the full list of tools available. The "Scale" tool helps users resize a section of a photo. "Rotate" can rotate the photo to any angle. "Skew" uses key points on the corners to adjust the visuals of the photo. "Distort" changes the plane of the photo. "Perspective" changes the vertical vision of the photo."Warp" uses a 3D plane to adjust the photo. Use the "Ctrl" key to keep proportions in scale for all these tools.
- Photoshop's extensive choice of filters makes manipulating and adding an artistic effect to a photo easy. The "Filter" menu at the top of the screen is broken down into several categories. Artistic filters include "Plastic Wrap," "Colored Pencil," "Cut Out" and "Neon Glow." After selecting a filter, a preview screen loads with more detailed options. View a real-time preview and when satisfied, click "OK." Play around with the filters to see how they all work.
- Making selections on a project is best done with the "Pen Tool." The tool allows users to take their time with the selection and zoom in as far as needed to highlight areas. Click on the "Pen" icon in the Toolbar window to activate the tool. Choose a starting point for the selection. Click at the next point to continue the selection. Follow all the way around the object. If a mistake is made, right click on the point and choose "Remove Anchor Point." Add anchor points by right clicking between two points and choosing "Add Anchor Point." When the selection is complete, right click and choose "Make Selection" to finalize the selection.
- Improve the eyes on any photo by following this simple tip. Use the "Navigator" window to zoom in directly on one of the eyes. Select the "Dodge" tool icon. Change the tool's options at the top of the screen. Select "Highlights" for the "Range" and set the "Exposure" to 50 percent. Change the brush size so that it is smaller than the high. Using circle motions, click and drag over the white sections of the eye. Do this three to four times and repeat on the other eye. Zoom out and see how the eyes have become the focus of the picture.
- Change any photo into a zombie-looking photo by adjusting a few simple things. Use the "Burn" tool to darken the skin and give it the dirty zombie look. Set the "Exposure" to 28 percent and lightly go over areas of the skin. Use the "Eyedropper" tool to grab the white color from the eye. Select a "Brush" tool and fill in the eyes completely white. Add in blood stains onto clothes by using the brush tool at 30 percent opacity. Use the "Burn" tool set at 60 percent to darken other areas like teeth and fingernails.
