Laser printers use dry ink (toner), light and heat to fuse ink and paper. They have many advantages over other types of printers, including speed, lower cost per printer page and greater durability.

    Setup

  1. Place the printer on a steady surface. Plug in the printer power cord. Open the printer hatch and install the toner cartridge. Make sure to remove all stickers and gently rock the cartridge back and forth before installing. Close the printer hatch and follow any setup instructions displayed on the printer panel.
  2. Installing Software

  3. Turn on the computer and install the printer software from the CD. If no CD is available, download the printer driver from the manufacturer support site. The driver is the software that enables the computer to communicate with the printer. Without installing the correct driver, the printer will not function correctly.
  4. Printing

  5. Connect the printer to the computer using the printer USB cord. Wait for installation to complete. Print a test page by navigating to Control Panel, Printer, Properties, Print Test Page. You can select printing options by clicking on preferences before selecting "Print." For example, you can choose the size and type of paper, color, single or multi-sided and orientation.
