- To prepare the VaporGenie for use, loosely fill its bowl with shredded tobacco. Make sure not to pack the tobacco too tightly, as this could cause burning. Screw the flame filter onto the top of the tobacco bowl to protect the tobacco from burning. While inhaling, use a lighter to apply heat to the filter hole. Toke for six to eight seconds.
- When lighting the VaporGenie, use a 1-inch lighter flame and position the flame so that only the tip is entering the filter hole. Avoid touching the flame to the filter, as this could produce soot that eventually will clog the filter and result in an unpleasant taste. It also can burn the wood. If you're holding the lighter correctly, the yellow portion of the flame should be outside of the hole.
- If you toke on the pipe and don't feel like you are inhaling any tobacco, this is an indication that the VaporGenie's temperature is too low. To increase the temperature, inhale slowly. If you feel as though you are inhaling too much tobacco, the temperature may be too high. To decrease the pipe's temperature, inhale faster.
- Although the VaporGenie does not produce as much tar as regular pipes, it does need to be cleaned occasionally. To remove the screen for cleaning, pull it out of the pipe using tweezers. Wire coils hold the screen in place, and you also can remove them for cleaning. Carefully remove the wire coils by pulling on them with a pair of pliers. Clean the wire coil and screen by soaking them in alcohol. To clean the steel bowl, dip a cotton swab in alcohol and swab out the inside of the bowl. To clean the VaporGenie's mouthpiece, insert one or two pipe cleaners through one end of the pipe and pull through the other end with a pliers.
