Indian Beauty Tips for the Face
Just as western science states that there are multiple layers of the skin, Ayurveda also says your skin has seven layers. Followers of this ancient Indian medical science believe that when doshas, or energy forces within your body, become imbalanced, they can cause various skin diseases. Whether you believe in Ayurveda or not, daily care of your skin should include washing with a gentle cleanser and following up with a moisturizer.

Acne Solutions
-
Those pesky spots on your face can cost you a hefty bundle when you're trying to pick up acne products at the drug store. Indian beauty tips include the idea of making a paste with leaves of menthe and putting it on your face every night and rinsing your face with warm water in the morning. Menthe leaves, or mint leaves, can be found in health food stores. You can also try using Aloe Vera as a solution. Mix 10 grams of silk cotton tree thorn powder, found in most Indian stores, with two grams of alum powder and 20 grams of Aloe Vera gel. Mix this into a paste and apply after you wash your face with cold water. Let it dry for one hour and rinse your face with warm water.
Deep Cleanse
-
For a deep cleaning facial sauna, try using different essential oils according to your skin type. If you have normal skin, which tends not to be too oily or dry, use mandarin oil or lavender oil. Use lemon oil or eucalyptus oil for oily skin and rose oil and chamomile oil for dry skin. Just take a bowl of steaming hot water and add a couple drops of oil. Drape a towel over your head for a minute and steam will open up your pores. Follow up with a good wash and moisturize.
Moisturizer
-
Moisturizing your skin is just as important as cleaning it every night to remove dirt and makeup. You should wash your face at night and in the morning when you wake up and follow up with a moisturizer that is made especially for your skin type. If you have normal skin and want a moisturizing mask, mix one tablespoon of orange juice with one tablespoon of lemon juice in a cup of yogurt to make a paste. Apply it to your face and keep it on for 15 minutes and clean off with a wet towel.
For an herbal night cream, mix two grams of garlic cloves with 500 grams of vegetable lard. Continue mixing 15 grams of beeswax in a saucepan with the cloves and lard and keep it over a low flame for half an hour. Turn off the flame and leave it covered for five to six hours. Remove the garlic cloves and pour the mixture into glass jars so that it solidifies. Apply generously on your face every night before you go to bed.
Face Brightener
-
A popular item among health and beauty products in India is skin lightener. There are plenty of items on the market these days that claim to lighten your skin. For an at-home treatment, boil up some oatmeal and let it cool. Mix organic lemon juice with equal parts of natural almond oil and glycerin. This treatment is believed to get rid of acne scars and blackheads as well as lighten your skin. You can also go the extra mile and grate some coconut to rub on your face and lips for glow. Rinse afterward.
