Milk

Before washing hair, pour 1/3 cup of milk and 1/3 cup of water into a spray bottle. Spray the milk mixture all over your dry hair, and let sit for 20 minutes. As the milk sets in, comb through the hair as you would to evenly distribute any other styling product. When drying time has passed, shampoo and condition the hair as you normally would. This natural straightening technique will keep hair straight until your next shampoo cycle.

Castor Oil

Castor oil straightens hair naturally when applied, and is even more effective with the use of a hair dryer. Massage castor oil into your hair, and start combing from the root of the hair down to the tip. To incorporate a hair dryer, dry each hair section on high heat as you comb through the hair. This will lock the straight style into place, allowing for longer results. When complete, tap a moist, chilled wash cloth all over the hair. If your hair is naturally curly, skip this step.

Coconut Milk and Lime Juice

Cut a fresh coconut and collect the milk (don't use processed coconut milk). Place in a bowl and add 1/2 cup of fresh lime juice. Mix the two ingredients to an even consistency and place in the refrigerator to chill and form a thick cream. Then, massage this mixture all over the head, starting at the scalp and working your way down to the tips. Wrap your hair in a towel and let sit for an hour. While this is not an immediate straightening technique, repeating this procedure three times per week will work to straighten the hair within a few weeks of continued use.

Styling Without Chemicals

The proper combination of a hair dryer and hair brush, can lead to a gorgeous, straight hair. The key is to dry the hair on high heat, while continuously brushing to prevent the kinking or curling that usually happens when hair is wet. Brush the hair with a comb or brush and hold straight while blow drying. This will pull the hair straight, while the heat locks the hair into position. You can also apply silicone cream to hair before blow-drying, which will create an extra straightening element.

Flat ironing is one of the most popular ways to get hair straight and shiny. Flat irons can be purchased from all superstores and beauty supply stores. These allow you to either straighten dry hair, or flat iron directly onto wet hair, which dries and straightens at once. The heat of the flat iron also adds extra shine to your locks.
