You may not want to use a harsh chemical to get rid of grease on surfaces or clothing. There are several natural, nontoxic solutions that you can make at home to fight grease.

    Grease on Walls

  1. Oil can find it's way onto walls, especially in kitchens. You could paint over the spot with touch-up paint, but the painted-over spot can end up looking a little bit different than the rest of the wall. Instead, create a paste with baking soda and water. Spread a layer of the paste over the affected area and allow to dry. Brush the dried paste off of the wall. The baking soda will absorb the oil.
  2. Grease Spots on Clothing

  3. To remove grease from clothing, add baking soda to the wash. You can either add the baking soda to the detergent or substitute up to half of the detergent with baking soda. For stubborn grease stains, create a paste with baking soda and water. Treat the spot with the baking soda paste and then wash as usual.
  4. Degreasing Surfaces

  5. Vinegar--cider or white distilled--makes a very effective household cleaner. An advantage of white vinegar is that it is often cheaper. Vinegar contains acetic acid, making it effective in removing grease. Take an old spray bottle and add equal parts vinegar and water. Use the solution as you would use a store bought cleanser.
