Toastmaster is an appliance manufacturer that offers a waffle iron as part of its catalog. When you own a Toastmaster waffle iron, you can create delicious homemade hot waffles easily. Remember to handle the Toastmaster waffle maker with care to avoid injury since surfaces will be extremely hot. For more specific instructions, you can always refer to your waffle maker's instruction manual.
Priming the Cooking Surface
Before you use the Toastmaster waffle iron for the first time, as well as after each cleaning, prime the cooking surface. To prime, coat all surfaces with a thin layer of vegetable shortening while the waffle maker is turned off . As an alternative, use non-stick cooking spray. Plug the waffle maker into a wall outlet, and wait for the indicator light to turn off before you use the device. It is normal to see smoke from the Toastmaster waffle iron during the priming process.
Use any type of waffle batter in the Toastmaster waffle iron. If you purchase store-bought mix, follow the manufacturer's instructions for batter preparation. Once the batter is ready, let it rest for five minutes before use.
Plug in the waffle maker, and wait for the indicator light to turn off. Pour about 2/3 cup of batter into the lower grid of the machine. Spread the batter evenly over the cooking surface with a wooden spoon, and then close the lid. Wait for the light to come back on, and then check the waffle by lifting the lid. If it is not browned, close the lid again and then recheck it once you no longer see steam coming out of the machine. Remove the waffle from the iron with a spatula.
Unplug the Toastmaster waffle maker, and clean the grid surfaces using a soft cloth. Avoid using any abrasive cleaners or sponges that can damage the cooking surface. Clean the device while it is still warm to help easily remove leftover batter. You can use mild soap and a damp cloth to clean the exterior of the waffle maker.
