No Carb Diet Plan

Numerous diet plans advocate lowering your carbohydrate intake. Reducing your carbohydrate intake to zero g (or none) is not impossible, but it isn't recommended. Carbohydrates provide the body with energy. As such, going without any carbohydrates will leave you tired and feeling weak and limp. In such a condition, it will be difficult to add in exercise, an important component to any diet plan. However, it is possible to eat very few carbohydrates for short periods while dieting. Under 20 g of carbohydrates a day can be maintained for approximately a week at a time.

  1. Proteins

    • Meats are generally carbohydrate free. This is, in part, why many low carb diets allow a higher intake of fat. If trying to lose a lot of weight, or trying to lose weight fast, consider implementing a low fat diet along with low carbs. Try to keep your fat intake under 10 or 20 g a day as well. The reason low carb diets supplement with fat is that fat can help you feel full and help curb your appetite. In choosing a meat source, remember that skinless chicken breasts will be lower in fat than a steak. White fish is lower in fat than red fish. How you cook your meal will also affect the fat count. And certainly, you don't want to eat your fish or chicken breaded as that will add on carbohydrates. While you might consider low-fat yogurt in your diet, remember that fruit yogurts tend to be high in carbohydrates.

    Vegetables

    • Eat plenty of leafy green vegetables. These are generally, virtually carbohydrate free. Tomatoes are not too high in carbohydrates. However, the sweet yellow and orange vegetables, such as corn and carrots are high in carbohydrates and should be avoided. Yellow squash and zucchini, however, are relatively low. Salads are an easy supplement to your diet in which you can eat as much as you want. It's the dressing you have to watch. Most dressings are either high in fat, but low in carbohydrates, or high in carbohydrates but low in fat. For a low carb diet, select the first type, but go easy on the serving size. One way to enjoy the taste without so much dressing is to serve the dressing in a cup. Then dip your fork into the dressing before stabbing a stack of lettuce. This way you'll get the flavor without so much dressing.
