    Add a Vignette Frame

  1. Vignette Frame

The professional look of a vignette frame around a digital photograph is a popular photo effect that you can easily accomplish with Paint Shop Pro.

Open the Paint Shop Pro program and open the digital image of your choice. Select a color for the background from the materials palette. The background color box is the bottom of the two boxes showing on the palette. Click on this box to open up the window for selecting the color. Select the color you wish by clicking it and click "OK."

Now find the Learning Center palette on the left side of the work area and click "Collage." Next click "Make Selections" and then the "Shape Selection Tool." After doing this, you will see Tool Options along the top of the work area. Enter the following settings: the Selection Type is Ellipse, the Mode is Replace, and the Feather setting is 40. Position your cursor at the center of the photo and draw the ellipse shape so that it covers the area of the photo you want visible. Under the Selections tab, select "Invert." Now simply press the "Delete" key and the vignette will appear. Deselect the photo and crop as desired.
  2. Change Colors

  3. Open a digital image in Paint Shop Pro. Find the Learning Center palette on the left side of the work area and click "Retouch and Restore." Next click "Color Changer." Determine the item in the photo that you want to change and then, in the top box of the materials palette, select the color to which you want to change this item. Find the Tool Options settings at the top of the work area and change the Tolerance Control to 45 and the Edge Softness to 2. Now simply click anywhere on the item you want to change in the picture to change the color.
  4. Fix Photos

  5. Open a digital image in Paint Shop Pro. In the Learning Center palette, select "Adjust" and then select "Smart Photo Fix." The software will automatically analyze the photograph and will present suggestions for ways to enhance and improve it. It also will show you a preview of how the photo will look once any improvements are made. If desired, you can further adjust the suggested improvements by moving the sliders to the left or right within the suggested settings box. When you are satisfied with any enhancements, click the "OK" box to finalize the adjustments.
