There are many anti-aging face treatments available.

For many people, keeping the skin on their face as wrinkle-free as possible is one of the main goals of anti-aging face treatments. There are many different strategies for warding off and reducing the signs of advancing age on the face. People can stick with one technique--or combine two or more--depending on what works for them and the severity of the wrinkles on their face. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Topical Treatments

    • People who are just beginning to show the signs of aging skin can begin a skin care regimen that will ward off increasing wrinkles and other problems. Skin lotions containing ingredients like retinol, Vitamin C and alpha hydroxy acids can be applied daily to the face as an anti-aging measure. Protecting the skin from UV sun damage is also important. Creams should include sun block as well.

    Chemical Peels

    • Chemical peels are typically performed in dermatologists' offices, spas and salons. They contain various mixes of chemicals that work to remove the outermost layer of skin on a person's face. Once removed, new skin grows which is supposed to be younger, fresher and more wrinkle-free. Although many people rely on chemical peels, others find that they have little effect.

    Dermabrasion

    • Dermabrasion sands away the outermost layers of skin on a person's face and can be used to remove surface imperfections like minor scars due to acne, fine lines and wrinkles and sun damage. Once the outermost layers are removed, new skin has an amenable environment in which to regrow. Dermabrasion is a very popular anti-aging face treatment.

    Laser Resurfacing

    • One of the newest kinds of anti-aging face treatments is laser resurfacing. Dermatologists use carbon dioxide lasers to perform precise resurfacing to problem areas on a person's face. Popular sites include the corners of the eyes ("crows' feet") and the corners of the mouth. Acne scars and other minor scars can also be treated with laser resurfacing, but fine lines and wrinkles are generally the primary targets. New skin can then grow back in and is usually much healthier and youthful looking.
