Disney vacations can be a lot of fun, but there is so much to see and do that it can become overwhelming. Careful planning can make for a more enjoyable trip and save a lot of money in the long run. Planning and budgeting will help to make the most of a Disney vacation.

    Food and Dining

  1. Fruit

Eating at the hotel is a smart thing to do. As of July, 2009, even the cheapest meals for a family of 4 in the park ran $35-$40 each. Saving money on food allows for the little extras throughout the day, so breakfast should be eaten before visiting the park. Disney allows visitors to bring snacks and drinks into the park as long as there is nothing in glass and no food needs to heated up. Lunch meat may spoil during the day, so peanut butter and jelly is a good option if bringing sandwiches into the park. If you must eat in the park, the maps have dollar signs next to the restaurant listing -- those with a one-dollar sign are the cheapest. For snacks, there are fruit stands. Pieces of fruit are priced at about $1. Not only are they the cheapest snack available, but the healthiest too.
  2. Souvenirs

  3. Mickey's Camera

Pictures are the best souvenirs. Taking a lot of photos to remember the trip instead of buying a lot of items is a good way to save money. Taking things like park maps and buying small items like postcards can save money as well. There are a lot of stores throughout the parks, but most of the products can be purchased at a local Disney store. To avoid spending a lot of money on the trip, look for items that are not sold in stores. Try to buy souvenirs toward the end of the day to limit the amount of items being carried.
  4. Time Management

  5. Teacup Ride

Planning your visit the day beforehand can save a lot of time and ensure you get to see everything. Choose the rides and attractions that are the most important and plan the day around them. Disney also offers a "fast pass" on some of the more popular rides. A fast pass ticket can save hours of time waiting for a ride. Starting at the back of the park and working toward the front can save time spent waiting in line as well since most people will begin with the rides closest to the front of the park.
