- Make a horseshoe-shaped centerpiece with Styrofoam. Make a template measuring 25 inches from tip to tip and 9 inches across the open end of the horseshoe. Trace it onto the foam before you cut it out with a kitchen knife. Select stem glasses that are 2.5 to 3 inches wide and 7 to 8 inches tall, and space them around the horseshoe. Trace the base of the glasses and cut indentations in the foam so they'll sit more securely. Spray-paint the foam any color that suits your ribbon. You can wrap coordinating ribbons around the horseshoe in a wide V, one layered between the next, without covering the stem glass holders. You could also layer a single ribbon with a slight overlap for a simpler design. Glue the glasses in place and fill them halfway with colorful glass marbles or earthy stones. Wrap a single silk flower around the stems or glue several blossoms around the base of the stem. Place a tea light on top for a soft glow.
- Make an S-shaped centerpiece with two horseshoes, hooking one shoe on the inside of the other. Loosely wrap ribbon around the S, joining the two horseshoes together in the center. Glue the ribbon to the horseshoes at the beginning and at the end with a glue gun. Scatter small votive candles between the ribbons, zigzagging them in the center. Place two large pillar candles in the center of each horseshoe. You can decorate the pillars in a western theme with small horse, boot, and cowboy hat pins.
- Create a peanut-shaped centerpiece by placing two horseshoes with the open ends touching on top of copper sheeting cut 3 to 5 inches larger than the horseshoe peanut. Bend the perimeter of the copper ½-inch up to form a lip. Create a cluster of five 12-inch taper candles to stand in the center of your horseshoes. Join the tapers together with 20-gauge copper craft wire wrapped 3 inches from the bottom. Join one candle to the next by wrapping the wire in a figure 8. Your wire should be just tight enough to hold the candles together.
