- A "go fish" game is great, because it extends past the actual making of the project to become a fun game for later. Cut the shape of five fish out of construction paper. Let your toddler decorate them with sparkles, paint, markers and embellishments, or whatever else you have handy. While he's occupied, take five paper clips and bend them into hooks. Glue them to the fishes' mouths. Then, make a "rod" out of a craft stick, a long piece of string, and another hook. When your toddler is done decorating, set the fish out on your floor and allow him to "go fish" with his rod, seeing if he can use his hook to "catch" his construction paper fish.
- Any toddler loves to play prince or princess. Using two pieces of construction paper, cut two jagged strips of paper and allow your little royal to decorate them with gems, markers, sparkles and other craft supplies. Help her write "Princess ________ " on the front of the crown with a marker. When she's finished decorating, affix the paper strips into a crown with glue or tape, and then let your toddler play pretend with her crown for the rest of the day.
- If you have lots of old magazine laying around the house, this is a fun and easy way to get them ready for recycling while reusing them at the same time. Pull out your old magazines and look through them with your toddler. When he sees a picture he likes, cut it out and set it aside. Once you've gathered 20 or so pictures, hand him a glue stick and a piece of construction paper, and allow him to make a collage by gluing the pictures all over the paper. It may not be the neatest collage you've ever seen, but it will look great on your fridge.
