The Hunter Care-Free Humidifier is a home humidifier that released in 2003. With the built-in humidistat, users can set the level of humidity in a room. In addition, Care-Free Humidifiers are comprised of only a few parts, making cleaning the machine easy.

    Set-Up and Use

  1. The Hunter Care-Free Humidifier is ready to run out of the box once the tank is filled with water. Take the humidifier out of the packaging, and place it on a flat, water-resistant surface. Make sure the humidifier is at least 6 inches away from walls to prevent damage from the steam. In addition, keep the humidifier away from any heat source such as vents or portable electric heaters.

Lift the water tank, and twist off the stopper cap. Fill the tank with cool water. Do not fill the tank higher than the maximum fill line, as the excess water may spill out of the tank and onto the floor. Replace the stopper cap, and put it back on the humidifier. If seated correctly, water will flow from the tank into the water pan, and you will see air bubbles in the tank. Place the tank back in the humidifier if you do not see air bubbles.

The humidifier is now ready for use. Plug the power cord into an electrical outlet, and turn the control knob to "HI" or "LO" to start the machine.
  2. Humidistat

  3. The humidistat gives users more control over the amount of steam released by the machine. To set it, turn the humidistat knob to your desired level. When you input a setting, the humidifier runs until it reaches your desired humidity level. When the room is at your chosen humidity level, the machine will shut off. When the humidity in the room drops, the machine will turn on again.
  4. Cleaning

  5. Some sources of water have a high mineral content, which may leave a white, scaly substance on the the water tank or base of the humidifier. When this occurs, clean the unit to ensure proper functioning. To clean a Hunter Care-Free Humidifier, lift the main housing and filter from the base. Remove the water tank, unscrew the stopper cap and dump any remaining water. Fill the tank with 1 gallon of water and 8 ounces white vinegar. Shake the tank so the mixture coats the inside of the tank, and let it sit.

Next, place the base in a mixture of one gallon of water and eight ounces of white vinegar. Let it sit for at least 20 minutes. Dump the solution, and wipe off any of the remaining mineral build-up with a sponge. Rinse the base thoroughly when finished.

When the base is clean, dump the cleaning solution from the water tank, and rinse multiple times with water.

Dry the bottom and sides of the base, and place it back on the floor. Reinsert the water tank and filter. Wipe off the surfaces of the main housing, and place it back on the base. Your humidifier is now clean and ready to run as normal.
