CCNP stands for Cisco Certified Networking Professional. CCNPs set up, maintain and troubleshoot computer networking systems for various industries. According to the Cisco.com website, CCNPs must pass a series of exams before receiving their certification. To help you receive your CCNP, you must first pass the prerequisites, study the appropriate materials before your exams and practice your networking skills using simulators, or real systems if possible.

    Prerequisites

  1. According to Cisco.com, before studying for your CCNP exams, you must first have a valid certification as a CCNA or Cisco Certified Network Associate. Having a CCNA provides invaluable foundational information on the structure of networks, basic network defense and wireless networking. After completing your CCNA, you are ready to begin studying for your CCNP.
  2. Books and Tutorials

  3. Study CCNA materials that are authorized by Cisco Systems Inc. Studying the materials compiled and presented by the networking business ensures that the information you receive is timely, relevant and accurate. There are also many places online that offer tutorials, step-by-step training and practice exams.
  4. Simulators

  5. Network system simulators allow you to deal with real-life issues that CCNPs will face, without the fear of crashing the system or otherwise damaging equipment. Boson is the industry leader in network simulations systems, offering CCNP network simulators and practice exams. Many of these products can be expensive, but you can download demonstrations for free.
