Microsoft PowerPoint 2000 allows you to create dynamic presentations and slide shows. You can have as many slides as you want. You can customize text and images to show information as you envision. PowerPoint 2000 also is useful in creating posters and signs as a single slide. You can add sounds and animations to slide shows to capture your audience's attention better. PowerPoint 2000 features smoother slide transitions, more animations, and a larger variety of templates than previous versions.

    Slide Templates

  1. Create a new PowerPoint 2000 file. Your first slide will automatically feature a default template. Use the default text boxes, delete them, or choose another template. Click "Format" and choose "Slide Design" to view templates. Select a template from the provided list to the right, or choose to view additional templates online.

Create a new slide by going to "Insert" and selecting "New Slide." For variety, use multiple slide layouts, which appear to the right of the screen automatically, within the same presentation or slide show. Template backgrounds apply to the entire presentation.
  2. Adding Backgrounds

  3. Apply background colors or images to all slides by using the background templates. Choose one of two available methods of adding backgrounds. The first requires you to right-click the desired slide, choose "Background," select "More Colors" from the drop-down menu, and customize your background colors.

Add an existing image as your background in the second method. Go to "Insert" and choose "Picture." Choose either "Clipart" or "File." Choose your image and size the image to fit the slide. Right-click the image and choose "Properties" to alter the size, shape and transparency of the image.
  4. Adding Content

  5. Add content, such as text and images, to your slides using either the template sections or the Drawing toolbar at the bottom of the screen. Single-click any text section in a template to begin typing text. Highlight the text to increase the size, change the font, or change the font color. Press "Enter" or "Return" on your keyboard to create a new bullet if the text section is a bulleted list.

Click an image template section to add an image or other content. Add tables, charts, clipart, pictures, diagrams or media clips by clicking the corresponding icon within the image section of the template. Use the wizard that appears to create or browse for content. Resize the content by right-clicking the content and selecting "Properties." Use the "Insert" menu to choose objects to add if you're not using a template.
  6. Custom Slides

  7. Create dramatic, eye-catching presentations by creating custom slides or customizing templates. Use the Drawing toolbar at the bottom of the screen to help customize your slide. Use the above background methods to customize your background. Add a personal touch to a slide by adding company logos, family pictures, or professional clipart.

Insert pictures, add WordArt, draw pictures, and add shapes by clicking the buttons on the Drawing toolbar. Draw the desired object on your slide. Move and resize the objects once they're added by either single-clicking the object or right-clicking and going to "Properties."
  8. Playing Slide Show

  9. Control how you play the slide show through the "Slide Show" menu. Press "View Show" to view your current show, slide by slide. Use the "Animation Schemes" and "Slide Transition" to customize how objects appear on your slide, and how slides transition from one to the next. Record custom narration from the "Slide Show" menu.
