Installation and Ventilation

There are many models of Kenmore Dryers. Though each model has several variances, the overall operation and care for the dryers are quite similar. Before using your dryer, ensure proper installation and connections. Use plastic vents or metal foil vents to ventilate your dryer and use the straightest path possible. Do not use duct tape, screws or fasteners that extend into the inside of the vent. Install your dryer using the minimum recommended installation clearance, according to your dryer's instructions.
Using Your Dryer

Once you have properly installed your dryer, wipe the drum with a damp cloth to remove the dust that has accumulated from the storing and shipping of the dryer. You can start and stop your dryer at anytime during the cycle. To begin drying, load your clothes. Do not over pack the dryer. The close should be loaded loosely to allow space for the clothes to tumble freely. Turn the "Temperature Selector" to your selected setting. Turn the "Cycle Control" button to the selected setting. If you would like the dryer to notify you when the dryer's cycle ends, select the "End of Cycle Signal." Add fabric softener sheets, if desired. Press "Push to Start" to begin the dryer. Stop the cycle by opening the dryer door or turning "Cycle Control" to the Off position.

For best results, Kenmore recommends you take several steps to maintain the dryer. Clean the dryer's lint screen after every load. Pull the lint screen up and toward you to remove. Roll the lint off the screen and rinse the screen with hot water. Thoroughly dry the lint screen and replace the screen back into position. Clean the interior of the dryer as needed, keeping it lint and debris free. Use only non-flammable household cleaners to remove spots. Wipe the drum with a soft, damp cloth. Dry the drum by cycling a load of clean towels. It is also recommended that the dryer's inside dryer cabinet be cleaned at least every two years, depending on the dryer's usage. This servicing should only be completed by a qualified specialist.

Newly purchased Kenmore dryers are subject to a 1-year replacement warranty. Remember you purchased your dryer, the serial number, model number and purchase date. Keep this information, along with your sales receipt and instruction booklets together. You will be required to show proof of purchase for in-warranty service. Dryers must be properly installed and serviced for the warranty to apply.
