- Although styling curly hair can be challenging, the end result is of a great style is worth the work. First, since curly hair can get frizzy, use an anti-frizz product before styling. Since there are many of these products on the market, talk to your stylist for a recommendation. One interesting thing about curly hair is that the same style can look totally different on each individual, depending on the curl. To create a voluminous style, apply a dime-sized amount of your chosen anti-frizz serum and scrunch into the curls. Then, air dry or blow dry your hair with a diffuser attached to the dryer. Styling long curls can be as easy as gathering strangs into a "romantic" bun at the top of your head. Make sure to let some face-framing tendrils loose. An important styling tip for those with long, curly hair: Never use a brush to style. Doing this will just create frizz. Instead, use your fingers to comb through your hair and break apart curls.
- Many women are born with naturally wavy hair and go to great pains either straightening or curling to style. Embrace your natural waves with a "beach sexy" style. Achieve this tousled look by using a texturizing spray on damp hair to enhance waves. Then, braid hair into 1/2 inch-1 inch sections and leave in overnight. In the morning, untwist your braids and finish with a light finishing spray. Achieve a sweet and innocent looking style by using barettes or a clip to pull back the top of your hair and leave the bottom half flowing. Wavy hair also looks great styled into an easy, messy bun at the nape of your neck. First, secure a loose ponytail and then wrap ends around the base, hiding bobby pins as you go. Finish with a hairspray to hold the style.
- Wear your long and straight hair in many different ways, since straight hair can be smoother and therefore easier to style. For a long and blunt cut, you can choose a pin-straight style by using a bit of smoothing creme on damp hair, blowing dry, and finishing by using a quality flat iron. A layered cut also is great for straight and long hair. Layers can be worn and styled in a variety of ways and can give your straight hair more volume. Use a curling iron to flip layers out or tousle the layers for a sexy, messy look. Straight hair is also very conducive to wearing bangs. Have your stylist trim straight bangs directly above your eyebrows--these are long enough to pull back if you want to change your style. If you're short on time, brush your hair out and secure it at the top of your hair for a sassy "cheerleader" ponytail. Long, straight hair can also look great styled in loose braids or pulled back into a headband.
