Gout is a very painful condition. It is caused by having too much uric acid in the body which then crystallizes around the joints making normal movement very difficult. There are several prescription medications for gout, but they can be toxic to the system and hard to tolerate. Cranberries are a homeopathic treatment that many who suffer from gout have had great success with.

    Cranberry Tea

  1. Drinking homemade cranberry tea several times a day can be a wonderful treatment for the pain and inflammation of gout. This mixture can be made easily at home by mixing 1 tsp. of ground mountain cranberry leaf into 1 1/2 cups of boiling water. This mixture should be steeped for at least 1 hour before drinking. Then filter the grounds and drink the remaining liquid. You will need to drink 1/2 cup three to four times a day. It is best to drink the tea before each meal. Mountain cranberry leaf can easily be found in most herb shops in either ground form or whole leaf form. After drinking this mixture a few times, you should begin to feel relief from the painful symptoms of gout.
  2. Cranberry Juice

  3. You can also drink store-bought or fresh cranberry juice several times a day to help alleviate gout's symptoms. The natural anti-oxidants in cranberry juice are beneficial to the body by purifying it of toxins, such as uric acid, and will help flush the system. If you are accustomed to drinking soft drinks or other fruit juices along with your meals, you can easily replace these with a cold glass of cranberry juice that will taste great while also helping to relieve the symptoms of gout. Drinking cranberry juice along with any snacks throughout the day is also a delicious way to help dilute the harmful uric acid levels that are causing gout flare-ups.
  4. Cranberries

  5. Adding fresh cranberries to your diet is also an enjoyable way to help clear up inflammation caused by gout. If you normally have raisins or bananas in your cereal or oatmeal, you can instead add cranberries to your breakfast meals. Eating fresh or frozen cranberries for a snack in between meals is another great way to put an end to gout symptoms safely.
  6. Cranberry Combinations

  7. You can also vary the forms of cranberry you have throughout the day to help get rid of gout faster. Try having cranberry tea instead of coffee, drink cranberry juice along with your meals and eat fresh or frozen cranberries as a healthy snack alternative. The more cranberry you have, the faster those painful symptoms of gout will subside.
