Bumper pool is a fun combination of shuffleboard and regular pool. It is played by either two or four people. A bumper pool table has only two pockets and twelve bumpers, and the object of the game is to sink all five balls into the opposing pocket.

    Get Started

  1. Two people can play opposite each other, or you can play with two teams of two. One team has five red balls and the other team has five white balls. Mark one ball of each color to be the cue ball. Place one red ball on each side of the white pocket. Put one white ball on each side of the red pocket. Set the marked ball directly in front of the pocket.
  2. Figure Out Who Goes First

  3. To decide which player or team will take the first turn, both sides simultaneously roll the cue ball so that it bounces off the side cushion of the table to each player's right. The player or team whose ball lands closest to the pocket takes the first turn.
  4. Play

  5. Pocket the marked cue ball first. If the player or team pockets another one of their balls first, the opposing player or team may drop two of their own balls into the pocket. If both players sink their marked balls on the first shot, they each choose another ball and roll them as they did to see who went first. The player closest to his pocket goes next.
If a player sinks his ball, he may take another turn.
If a ball goes off the table, the opposing player places the ball anywhere he wants on the table and puts two of his balls in his pocket.
Players may not jump their balls over other balls or bumpers on the table. If one does jump, the opponent takes two of his own balls and puts them in his pocket.
If a player sinks his own ball into the opponent's pocket, the opponent can put two of his balls in his pocket.
You can use your ball to knock your opponent's ball away from the pocket.
The winning team is the one that sinks all five of their balls first.
