Social media, websites, ads, and even television all bombard us with suggestions or advice on what to wear, how to dress, what's in fashion, and what's not. It can be overwhelming to sift through all this, at times conflicting, information just to choose a single outfit. It doesn't have to be so difficult. First and foremost: trust yourself. You know better than anyone which clothes make you feel most sexy and confident-- you can't go wrong with what YOU feel good in.

If, however, you are looking to make a change, a few subtle adjustments to your wardrobe may be all you need to enhance your appearance.

Tips for Feel Great Fashion

--Identify the parts of your body you like most. Then find clothes that accentuate these features. For example, if you are proud of your waist, wear tops or dresses (i.e. fit and flare) that cinch at the waist. Or try an over-sized belt to highlight your mid-section.

--Establish a personal style. Choose a celebrity or a friend whose clothing choices you admire and build a similar wardrobe. Developing a cohesive fashion sense influenced by several similar sources will allow you to put together streamlined outfits.

--Choose an era to emulate when deciding on a personal style. Inexpensive retro fashion items are often available at thrift stores and can help you express your style, with class. Common retro fashion choices include outfits influenced by the 1950s, 60s or 70s.

--Screen your closet for unnecessary items and get rid of anything you haven’t worn in the last year. Keeping old clothes that you selected when you had different taste or a different job will prevent you from trying new and more flattering looks.

--Be picky when choosing the color of your clothing. Decide which shades look best on you and purchase the majority of your clothing within this range. For example, people with fair skin and blonde hair may look better in warm colors, like those with red or yellow undertones, in comparison to cool colors with blue undertones; and they may look better in pastels than in dark colors, such as black.

--Set a clothes budget, and try to set aside some of that budget for a few key, high-quality items. If you buy the majority of your clothes at secondhand shops or discount outlets, you can purchase popular brands for lower prices. This will make it easier to find room in your budget for a few more expensive items, such as a high-quality, attractive pair of shoes or a classic coat.

--Introduce variety to your style. Women often get in the habit of wearing a single type of outfit. Try mixing up the type of outfits you wear; for example, if you usually don jeans, a T-shirt, and sneakers, try adding dresses and sandals to your regular wardrobe and see how you feel.

Tip

Purchase practical clothing that makes you feel confident. When shopping, choose clothes that you can imagine wearing in multiple settings. If you are trying on an outfit in the dressing room and you can only visualize a few occasions at which you would wear it, it probably isn’t worth the money.
