What to Wear
-
Cowboys or those interested in cowboy style are most often seen wearing bolo ties. They go well with a cowboy shirt or with plaids that a cowboy or ranch hand might wear. However, bolo ties can go with just about any collared shirt if the color scheme and style works with the rest of the outfit. Two states--New Mexico and Arizona--have made the bolo tie their official neckwear.
How to Wear a Bolo Tie
-
Bolo ties can be worn just like a cloth tie, tightened at the top with the top button of the collared shirt buttoned. Or you can go with a more relaxed look, with the tie loosened three to four inches below the top of the collar. Pendants are the main showpieces of the bolo tie, like the design or color on a classic cloth tie. Semi-precious stones like turquoise or amethyst are popular, as are silver pendants.

How to Care for Your Bolo Tie
-
Metal polish is recommended for metal or silver clasp pendants to remove scratches, tarnish and fingerprints. After cleaning the metal pendant with the polish, wipe it with a cloth sprayed lightly with a lubricant like WD-40. This will give it a nice shine. The cord can be wiped with a damp cloth. If the cord is made of leather, use a leather treatment.
