Diets For Alcohol Related Diseases
An excessive consumption of alcohol over a number of years can cause a great deal of trouble for your body. The Liver Cleansing Diet can help with liver damage (which in its worst form is called cirrhosis). Since this diet is not centered on tricks and trends but on healthy choices, it can help with other alcohol related diseases as well, like heart and kidney disease. Please consult your doctor before making a big diet change.

What to Remove
-
First and foremost, go around your house with a big garbage bag (or two). Throw out all of the items that are detailed in this paragraph so as to remove temptation. Remove full-cream (whole milk-based) dairy products, deep-fried foods, fatty meats and preserved meats. Look through your cupboard for products with artificial ingredients, toxins and chemicals like aspartame (found in diet soda and "lite" drinks), preservatives, and artificial flavorings. Pay close attention to snack foods, cereals, and all products that don't claim to be natural or organic. Take out all candies, white sugars, carbonated beverages, pastries and biscuits with refined sugars. Remove all alcohol as well. Once you've removed all of these products, post a list of foods to avoid on your refrigerator right next to your shopping list. You are allowed a treat every once in a while, but don't make it the norm as these foods will cause problems for your liver and your general health.
What to Add
-
Replace animal and dairy fats with foods that have seed-based and cold-pressed vegetable oils like avocados, oily fish, shellfish, raw nuts and seeds and legumes. These products contain monounsaturated fats, which help improve your liver membrane cells, your heart and the digestion of the fat you already have in your body. Replace meats with free-range chicken and beef, as these animals have not been pumped full of harmful antibiotics. Add foods rich in healthy nutrients, like tomatoes (with lycopene), beetroot (contains antioxidant anthocyanidin) and legumes (with phyto-estrogens). Replace sweets with natural fruits and fruit juices, unprocessed raw honey, and carob. Get a water filter or buy some bottled water so that you can drink 8 glasses of pure water each day. This will help your liver, skin and kidneys to detoxify.

How to Enjoy Yourself
-
A diet takes a lot of work but it doesn't have to be devoid of enjoyment. For breakfast, you can enjoy a combination of fresh fruits like oranges, peaches and apples with some walnuts sprinkled on for healthy fats and an egg on the side for protein. Lunches can consist of salad with smoked salmon or farm-grown chicken with a side of lentils. Try some very lean beef for dinner (Trader Joe's has a great 90/10 farm-grown extremely lean beef product) with some potatoes and vegetables. Snacks can consist of bread and extra-virgin olive oil, a combination of healthy-fat nuts like almonds mixed with nutrient-rich cranberries or cherries, or a vegetable and fruit smoothie. These are just a few examples of meals and snacks that you can create for yourself on this diet.
