- Punch a hole on two opposing sides of a paper plate. Tie a 10-inch length of ribbon through each hole. Decorate the bottom of the plate with embellishments such as lace, fake flowers, buttons, felt shapes or rhinestones. You can make fake flowers from tissue paper if you don't want to buy them or don't have them around the house. Tie the bonnet around your head with the ribbon.
- Cut an 18-inch-diameter circle from a piece of posterboard. In the center of that circle, cut out another circle large enough to fit around the top of your head. Decorate your doughnut-shaped piece of posterboard with fake flowers, tissue paper, lace, buttons and rhinestones. Punch a hole on either side of the posterboard bonnet and tie a ribbon through each hole if the bonnet needs something extra to stay on your head.
- Cut a shape out of cardboard that looks like half of an oval in the front and a rounded triangle in the back (see Resources for a picture of this shape). Punch a hole on either side of the bonnet where the half-egg and rounded-triangle shapes meet. Tie a 10-inch length of ribbon through each hole so that you can secure the bonnet to your head. Decorate the bonnet with fake flowers and other embellishments.
