Face Fungus Cures

Not to be confused with the slang term for men's facial hair, face fungus is a red, rash-like abrasion that appears on various areas of the face. A fungal infection requires the use of anti-fungal medication, usually a cream. The medical term used for face fungus is tinea faciale.

    1. Creams

      • A more familiar term applied to face fungus is facial ringworm. Over-the-counter fungal lotions and creams should be applied directly onto the infected areas. Some of the cream medications that may help are clotrimazole and miconazole. A medication that comes in both cream and pill form is terbinafine.

      Doctor Visits

      • If you think you have face fungus, you should see a doctor so you can find out what the proper prescription is for you. If you have been using a medication for four weeks and haven't seen any changes, go back to the doctor for a more effective diagnosis. He will probably prescribe an oral medication if you have an especially strong case of face fungus.

      Prevention

      • Face fungus is very contagious, so make sure to never touch a person or animal who has it. If you have been around a person or animal with face fungus, take extra care to wash your face and hands thoroughly. Facial fungus is more likely to develop in people with a suppressed immune system. If you have leukemia, diabetes or HIV/AIDS, wash your face several times a day to help fight against the possibility of facial fungus.
