The TomTom One 3rd Edition is an in-car navigation device that provides touchscreen functionality, updated maps and even "emergency help" for special situations. Thanks to an intuitive interface and excellent design, the TomTom One 3rd Edition is fun and simple to use, but only when the right directions are followed.
Powering The TomTom One 3rd Edition
Turn the TomTom on and off by pressing and holding down on the power button for two seconds. Typically the TomTom will respond and turn on immediately; however, it on may take longer to power on the first time.
TomTom Setup Instructions
Follow the onscreen setup directions to set your "regional preferences." You will need to firmly press the screen to select your "language" and other settings as they appear. You can set these preferences to your own liking.
Avoid Large Building and Other Structures
Avoid large buildings and other covered areas. Your TomTom GPS unit must have direct access to the sky in order to find GPS satellites. You may experience issues in large cities and areas covered with heavy trees.
Setting Navigation Directions
From the main screen called the "Drive View" click on the center of the screen. Press the "navigate to" option and then choose one of the following icons: city center, street and house number, zip code, "cross street or intersection" or switch country. Enter the requested information for each choice.
Following TomTom GPS Directions
Follow the on-screen directions highlighted by a red line for your route or listen to the voice-by-voice directions to find your way. If you miss an exit or there is a detour the TomTom will automatically correct your route after you miss a turn, providing new directions almost immediately.
Using TomTom One 3rd Edition Points Of Interest
Tap on the "navigate to" option from the main menu, then choose "Points Of Interest" finally choose "POI In City." To narrow your choices you can then choose "POI near you" or even POI near home" rather than the city option. Follow the on screen directions to find the type of POI you want to navigate to.
Using "Emergency Services"
Click on the "Help Me" option from the main navigation menu. Choose the type of help you'd like to receive. This includes: phone for help, drive to help, walk to help, Where Am I?, First Aid Guide and other guides. Clicking "phone for help" requires that you're phone is synced with your Bluetooth. Otherwise the Help Me! function provides the closest gas stations, hospitals, police stations and other emergency services which you can choose and receive instructions for using.
