If you're shopping for Valentine's Day gifts, you might want to choose a present that's more interesting than a plain old box of chocolate and roses. There are plenty of Valentine's Day gift ideas for every budget. Whether your gift is for a man or a woman, you can show them how much you care with a special gift idea, and make Valentine's Day a memorable occasion.

    Traditional Gifts

  1. Chocolate and flower are traditional American Valentine's gifts. It doesn't take much imagination to present a heart-shaped box of chocolates with a bouquet of flowers, or a classy box of long-stemmed roses. To make it more exciting, select long-lasting potted tea roses that will grow and bloom for many years to come. They can be kept in the pot but will grow longer if planted outdoors. For a better chocolate gift, pick up European imported chocolate online or from the duty-free store at the airport. European chocolates are made to more stringent standards than American chocolates, and many people feel that they taste better.
  2. Jewelry

  3. Jewelers advertise that diamonds and gold are popular Valentine's Day gifts, but not many people can afford to gift this extravagantly, and going into debt in the name of love is not very intelligent. Take a glass-blowing class and learn to make glass beads, or allow your love to choose some fancy beads at a local bead shop and make a piece of jewelry on your own. Whether it's a pendant necklace or a beaded bracelet or necklace, they'll think of you every time they wear it.
  4. Homemade Treats

  5. Nothing says loving like something from the oven. Baking a special treat for your sweetheart is one way to show that you care. This is one occasion when ugliness is actually more attractive. Have you ever heard the saying that "the quickest way to a man's heart is through his stomach?" For many women, the fact that you spent an hour messing up your kitchen trying to impress her is even sexier. The fact is, everyone eats. If your treat ends up being inedible, you'll both at least get a laugh out of it, and the worst that can happen is that you'll be forced to go out to eat. Either way, you can't go wrong.
  6. Travel Gifts

  7. Whether it's an overnight ski trip, a weekend in wine country or a night at the bed-and-breakfast outside of town, a gift of travel is romantic. Spending time away from home can be relaxing and create lifelong memories. Away from the phone, the computer and the distractions of everyday life, you and your love can dream about the future.
