What Are the Most Necessary Vitamins for Healthy Skin?

Vitamins are essential for healthy skin. They add balance that prevents dryness or excessive oil production. To ensure that the skin is getting all of the nutrients it needs, eat a well balanced diet and take a multivitamin daily, there are certain vitamins you can take in pill form or apply topically for perfect skin.   1. Vitamin C

    • Vitamin C increases the production of the connective tissue collagen, which helps keep the skin plump and wrinkle-free.

      It's also an antioxidant, making it a free-radical scavenger. When applied topically, it prevents cell oxidation.

      Vitamin C can be found all citrus fruits. Conveniently, you can apply these directly to the skin as an anti-aging and skin clarifying treatment. For a first treatment, rub a lemon slice to the skin and rinse after 10 minutes. Another treatment: dissolve a vitamin C tablet in a tablespoon of boiling water, allow it to cool and add it to your favorite moisturizer as an extra ingredient to boost collagen production.

    • Vitamin E is essential for healthy skin. It is even nicknamed the "skin vitamin" because of its vast benefits to the complexion.

      Vitamin E lubricates cell membranes and repairs cell damage. It is a free-radical scavenger due to its antioxidant properties. This ensures that it prevents and mends skin damage.

      When vitamin E is applied topically, it speeds the rate of cell regeneration and encourages new skin cell growth. This helps in the repair of sun damaged skin and scars.

      Vitamin E oil can be purchased at any drug or grocery store and can be dabbed on problem areas, such as fine lines, wrinkles, scars and blemishes.
