Apple Cider Vinegar Cures for Gas

Our body produces one to three pints a day of gas, but can produce more as a result of too little stomach acid to aid in digestion. Gas is naturally produced by swallowing air and the breakdown of foods in the intestines. Apple cider vinegar contains acetic acid, which aids in the digestion process, thereby reducing gas and bloating.

Selecting Apple Cider Vinegar

  • Choose organic or raw apple cider vinegar. Organic apple cider vinegar is made from organically grown apples and has the additional benefit of removing toxins and supporting the immune system. Some apple cider vinegars contain "the mother," which is the enzyme and bacteria that have died during the fermentation process. When ingested, the mother boosts the immune system.

Apple Cider Vinegar Cure for Gas

  • Apple cider vinegar acts as a digestive enzyme when taken with meals to help digest food and reduce gas.

    Drink 1 to 2 tbsp. of raw apple cider vinegar in a glass of water 30 minutes before or after eating. The apple cider vinegar maintains the stomach's pH balance so that food is effectively broken down during the digestion process.

    If you cannot stand the taste of apple cider vinegar, mix 1 to 2 tbsp. in a glass of grape or apple juice to sweeten the taste. Another option is to mix 1 tsp. of honey in the apple cider vinegar concoction.

    For comfort all day long, mix 2 tbsp. of apple cider vinegar with 16 ounces of water and sip throughout the day. This will maintain acids in the stomach to help digest foods and break down fats.
