Facial Exercises for Lip Lines

When you begin to age, some of the first places you may notice those small fine lines or wrinkles are those places where you express yourself, mainly your eyes and your mouth. With every smile or frown, you put yourself at risk for those small expression lines around your lips. Get rid of them by exercising your lips daily for smoother, firmer skin.

Pucker Exercise

  • To tighten the dropping skin that you might find causing lines around the corners of your mouth, try an exercises that pulls in those corners to make them tighter. Pucker your lips as if you were going to give someone a big kiss. From that position, pull in the corners of your mouth until they are almost touching. The effect should be that of a fish mouth. Hold the position for 10 seconds, and then relax before pulling in the corners of your mouth again. Do this five times, three times a day for best results.

Nose Touch Exercise

  • This exercise is effective for the lines that are commonly found above and below the center of your lips. Begin in a relaxed position with your lips slightly parted. Bring them into a pucker, with the top lip jutting out slightly more than the bottom lip. Then, try and touch your top lip to your nose while still in the pucker position. Hold, flexed, for five seconds before releasing and returning to the beginning position, relaxed. Try doing this three times a day in sets of five to ten. Your lips and chin should feel slightly fatigued afterward.

Smile Exercise

  • This exercise is great for all-over firmness and tightness around your mouth, and can also help with some of those deeper frown lines. Begin in a relaxed position, and then smile as broadly as you can. You should be able to feel the sides of your mouth straining to smile as large as possible. Hold this position for five seconds, before dropping your mouth into a pucker and holding for five seconds. Do five to ten sets of this smile-to-pucker exercise at least three times each day.
