Weddings would not be complete without the added help of the beautiful hues and shapes that a flower arrangement can create. 1. Bouquets

      • The bride's and bridesmaids' bouquets are one of the first things a florist asks about. The other flower arrangements will play off the colors, shapes and size of the bouquets in order to create a cohesive look.

For a soft, romantic look, opt for a cascade bouquet type. This kind of bouquet hangs down over the hands and usually makes use of greenery (like ivy) and other flowers that naturally droop. Try soft colors such as pale yellow, white and blue to create an extra soft appearance.

For something modern, opt for flowers with long, green stems with a splash of bright color at the top, such as a gerbera daisy, tulip or tiger lily.

Nontraditional bouquets are also a hit. Some women prefer their bridesmaids to carry one single flower (such as a lily or sunflower) while others may incorporate non-flower items into the mix. For example, if you're having a fall wedding, consider a bouquet of lavender or even wheat. Spring weddings lend themselves to synthetic butterfly bouquets and winter weddings look fresh and clean with a bouquet full of red berries.

      Table Centerpieces

      • You can create whatever ambiance you want with the help of floral centerpieces at each of your tables. For round tables, one item placed in the center is appropriate. For long, banquet-style types, opt for small to medium centerpieces (depending the venue location) that sit in the middle of the table at two to three feet intervals apart from each other.

Choosing the type of floral arrangement should be fun. Note that in order to keep the arrangements inexpensive you should choose flowers that are in season and grown near you (importing from abroad can be quite pricey). For small venues, keep the centerpieces small so they do not overwhelm the area. One way to make a statement and enhance your surroundings is to play into the season of your wedding. Pumpkins and other gourds, for example, are beautiful for fall weddings. Try a white pumpkin scooped out and filled with autumn-hued flowers or deep burgundy's, oranges, browns and greens placed in a tall, glass vase.

Winter weddings look beautiful with lots of crisp reds and whites. Dark black roses also make a bold statement, as do pine cone arrangements and a variety of winter berries. For spring, consider a bird's nest flower arrangement or twigs accented with pale floral hues. Bright splashes of color and lots of green are ideal for summer, as is a hefty supply of greenery.

      Other Décor

      • The floral accents incorporated into your wedding are just as important as a centerpiece or bouquet. Consider placing an arrangement in each of the provided restrooms and at the entryway of your venue location. Wreath floral arrangements (for any season, style or wedding theme) make a beautiful statement and can also be created inexpensively. If you want to keep it ultra simple, opt for a potted fruit tree at each side of the door or entryway, or create an aisle purely out of flower petals.
