Brown spots or liver spots as they are also called usually occur on the skin as part of the aging process. Most often the brown spots occur on the hands and face where there has been extended exposure to sunlight through the years. Remedies to fade these tell-tale patches that come with age are mostly effective if they are performed more than once. Not to be confused with skin cancer, which looks like irregular shaped moles of differing colors, liver spots are flat and brown to yellow in color and look like large freckles.
Soak a cotton ball in freshly-squeezed lemon juice and dab the brown spots. Leave the lemon juice on your skin to lighten the spot. The lemon juice will fade the brown spots over time. Repeat this process three times daily.
Vitamin E
Cut open a vitamin E softgel and squeeze the contents onto your brown spots. Rub the oil into the brown spots. Vitamin E repairs tissue damage and slows the aging process. Repeat this process three times per week.
Apple Cider Vinegar
Mix a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar with a teaspoon of lemon juice. Soak a cotton ball in the resulting blend and squeeze out excess liquid. Tape the cotton ball to the brown spot for maximum efficacy.
Onion
Cut a slice of onion and dip it into apple cider vinegar. Rub the brown spots two times per day until the spots begin to fade and disappear.
Aloe Vera Gel
Rub fresh aloe vera gel into the brown spots every day until the spots fade and disappear. Aloe gel can be purchased from most supermarkets and health food stores. You can grow aloe easily as a houseplant. Use the aloe squeezed from the plump leaves the same way as you would from a tube.
